Wool cover care

Instructions

Wash by hand in lukewarm water or in a washing machine using wool program at 30 degrees Celsius. Use a detergent suitable for wool or a mild shampoo. It's usually enough to wash the covers approx. once a month if not soiled, just air dry in between uses. Do not use fabric softener or bleach. Do not tumble dry.

After washing squeeze gently and lanolize. You can use pre-made wool care product (Ulrich, Disana...) or make your own from pure lanolin.

How to lanolize wool covers

Pure lanolin Anavy

Use only pure lanolin (adeps lanae), a yellow thick substance. You can buy it in a pharmacy or drugstore or at our web. Dissolve one tea spoon of lanolin per each cover in small amount of hot water. Add a few drops of shampoo or wool detergent. You will get milky liquid as a result. Pour the lanolin-shampoo mix into a suitable container and add warm water, just enoug to sink the wool cover in. Put the wool cover in and let it soak for a couple of minutes. Take them out, squeeze gently. It's neccesary to shape the wet wool cover to keep its shape. Gently pull the cover vertically to desired shape and dry flat.

It's perfectly fine that the wool cover is slightly sticky after lanolizing. It's a sign of thorough lanolizing and it will disappear after several uses.

Anavy lanolin spray

To boost and prolong the waterproof properties of a wool cover, you can use Anavy Lanolin spray. You can find out more about it in our article  Introducing lanolin spray.
